About me...
I am an independent design professional based in Cape Town, South Africa.
I specialise in art direction, brand development, marketing materials, project management, book design, ebooks and typesetting.
I studied Graphic Design at the Nelson Mandela Metropole University, and after graduating from Varsity in 2003 I spent some years working in the ad agency realm, then broadened my skills in a area that I have a great affection for, book design. I spent over four years working for the world renowned Oxford University Press Southern Africa and held the position of Senior Graphic Designer & Team Leader in the design studio. Since then I have worked with a variety of publishing houses and design agencies, building great working relationships.
Over the past ±8 years I have played a large role in project managing and
art directing for large lists of book covers, artwork, book spec development and typesetting for the CAPS curriculum (Grade R – 12).
I am an adapter, problem solver, team player and a pleasant person to
work with. I had the opportunity to learn some agile project management skills, and was adapted for the publishing industry that I worked in at the time. Those skills have taught me invaluable lessons in teamwork, organisation and workflow.
In recent years I attended various course to further my professional skills:
1. HTML5 & CSS with Friends of Design
2. Adobe InDesign Essentials for ePub (Beginner) with Alchemy 360
3. Adobe InDesign Essentials for ePub ( Intermediate) with Alchemy 360
I hope that you will take the opportunity to browse through a few of the jobs I have worked on. If you are interested in working with me or just
