Art Directing

I have worked as an art director in both the advertising and publishing industry.

As an art director, one will typically oversee and manage the work of a particular job/project:

  • Determine how best to represent a concept visually

  • Determine which photographs, art, or other design elements to use

  • Develop the overall look or style of a publication or advertising campaign

  • Review and approve artwork, photography, and graphics developed by various creatives included in any particular project
    (e.g. illustrators, photographers)

  • communicate with clients to develop an artistic approach and style

  • Coordinate activities with other artistic or creative departments

  • Develop detailed budgets and timelines

  • Present designs to clients for approval

Book artwork direction

Over the past 5 years I have worked very closely with publishing teams to create a unique brands, artwork, and project manage for a variety of CAPS (curriculum required) educational books.

I have experience in working on a numerous covers and inside artwork projects at one time. I can plan:

  • conceptualize

  • create moodboards

  • source and brief artists

  • handle all feedback to artists

  • troubleshoot

  • check artwork that it meets specific job requirements

  • layout covers

  • see all artwork through to print ready format
